Once
again, while it's a hot Labor Day weekend in Tucson, we’ll be able to have a
group backpack up to the cool pine forest at Manning Camp (Sept 4-7). We’ll clear and maintain trail, cut firewood
and take care of other camp chores for the National Park Service. As NPS volunteers, we get to hike up from the
Madrona entrance (9-1/2 miles, 4500’ one way) and use the NPS kitchen in the old
Manning cabin. The NPS will also provide
food, tents, water filters and a couple of their fun-loving trail crew. For information, inquire with your SAHC
member number to zaino ‘at’ att.net.
