Public Invited To The Program

3rd Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 pm-- Last month's meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19th
was at the Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation (TOMF) conference center, 3182 N. Swan Road

The program was "Mustang, Lost and Found" and was presented  by SAHC club members Barb and Sid Coon. Since their first trip to Nepal i n 1969, they have been aware of the "Lost Tibetan Kingdom of Mustang". That's the title of a 1967 book by Michel Peissel, who needed a letter of permission from the king of Nepal to visit there in 1963. They finally had a chance to trek there last year (no king, no letter, but lots of help from KE Adventure Travel) and returned with stories of isolated villages, high yak pastures, Buddhist temples, destroyed guerrilla villages, CIA involvement, and more. Why a Tibetan Kingdom in Nepal? It all goes back to Greater Tibet (an empire lasting from the 6th to 8th centuries) which is where we will start.
